The best technique for the diagnosis of prostate cancer is prostate biopsy. Transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided biopsy of the prostate enhances early diagnosis of prostate cancers.\nObjective: The aim of the study is to describe the clinical and pathological characteristics of Prostate cancers as seen at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital\nMaterials and Methods: A total of 62 patients who underwent TRUS-guided prostatic biopsy over a period of 3 years (January 2019- December 2021) participated in the study. Their data were analyzed retrospectively using the archives of the pathology department of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.\nResults: Of the 62 patients who underwent TRUS-guided prostrate biopsy from January 2019 to December 2021, their mean age was 68.3 with an age range of 34-89 years. 67.7% had adenocarcinoma of the prostate, 1.6% had spindle cell cancer, 24.2% had benign prostate hyperplasia and 6.5% had chronic prostatitis.\nConclusion: The indications for prostate biopsy in our center detect more patients with prostate cancer than other prostate pathologies.
