Counselors as organizational leaders: Exploring parallels of servant leadership and professional counseling

ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to encourage professional counselors to consider using their counseling competencies outside of the counseling field as servant leaders in organizational settings. The authors identified counseling competencies that both bring support to these servant leadership dimensions and serve as transferable skills within diverse organizational leadership roles. Implications are suggested for graduate programs and the counseling profession.
