Quantifizierung des Umgebungsverkehrs eines Fahrzeuges durch die Messung von Straßenabrieb / Quantifying the Surrounding Traffic of a Car by Measuring the Road Abrasion of Vehicles
Floating Car Observers (FCO) detect and quantify the traffic occurring in front of a driving car. In our experimental setup, we mount a low-cost particulate matter (PM) sensor on a car in order to measure pm and use a dashcam to count vehicles driving in front of the car equipped with the sensor. Small particulate matter (measured as PM1 and PM2.5) emerges partly because vehicles whirl up the dust that is located on the pavement of streets. This case study shows correlations between measured PM1 and PM2.5 values and the number of cars in front of our testing vehicle.
