The aim of our work is to review the useful tools that the physician uses in the process of accompanying the terminal patient, their family, and caregivers. Since the beginning of their existence, human being are pure necessity, physiologically, as well emotional and affective, ranging between satisfaction and dissatisfaction, the self is irretrievably doomed to frustration... Knowing that as the years pass, we increasingly lose things (strength, health, emotions), and if all goes well, we will reach senescence, and that in any case, we eventually die. The vulnerability of human beings is revealed precisely in this dual experience of pain and death. The pain will be for our travelling companion along with the shadow of death, even if we want to keep them hidden. The wise attitude, and thus the liberating one, goes hand in hand with lucidity and humility and takes the form of acceptance, which does not mean that it is easy or that before coming to live it the person has not had to go through different phases. Thus our authentic and consistent presence is as vitally important as that of the physician.
