Professor of Asian Anthropology in the University of London, Dr. von Fiirer-Haimendorf is Head of the Department of Cultural Anthropology in the School of Oriental and African Studies, and also sometime Adviser to the Hyderabad State Government for Tribes and Backward Classes, and Professor of Anthropology in the Osmania University, India. He is author of The Chenchus, Jungle Folk of the Deccan, London, 1943; The Reddis of the Bison Hills. A Study in Acculturation, London, 1945; and The Raj Gonds of Adilabad, A Peasant Culture of the Deccan, London, 1948.
