It acts as a biologically active compound, inhibits corrosion, and aids in solidifying rubber and in animal skin tanning. it's associate intermediate within the preparation of dyes, prescription drugs, polymers and textile auxiliaries. industrial glyoxal is ready by either the gas section reaction of ethanediol within the presence of a silver or copper catalyst or by the liquid section reaction of ethanal with acid.
