The Institute of Medicine (IOM) published the report "To Err is Human" (To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System) which estimated that 44,000 to 98,000 Americans die each year due to errors in health care, with 7,000 of these related errors with medication. This high number raised the issue of patient safety. The concept Patient Safety concerns how the use of best practices can reduce unsafe acts in the health care process. The critically ill patient is more susceptible to error and due to so many equipment and diagnostic and therapeutic technologies in the ICU and the largest number of professionals who are involved in the same tour. Ordinance GM / MS No. 1377 (July 9, 2013) and Ordinance No. 2095 (September 24, 2013) approve the basic protocols of patient safety: (a) identification of the patient; (B) prevention of pressure ulcers; (C) preventing falls; (D) handwashing; (E) safe surgery; (F) use and safety in medication administration. The prescription process should be standardized and written (standard operating procedure), updated and published, and the drugs are dispensed only after being reviewed by the pharmacist. If any prescription error, this should be reported to the Patient Safety Center.
Accounts of Chemical Research presents short, concise and critical articles offering easy-to-read overviews of basic research and applications in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. These short reviews focus on research from the author’s own laboratory and are designed to teach the reader about a research project. In addition, Accounts of Chemical Research publishes commentaries that give an informed opinion on a current research problem. Special Issues online are devoted to a single topic of unusual activity and significance.
Accounts of Chemical Research replaces the traditional article abstract with an article "Conspectus." These entries synopsize the research affording the reader a closer look at the content and significance of an article. Through this provision of a more detailed description of the article contents, the Conspectus enhances the article's discoverability by search engines and the exposure for the research.
