AFO normally presents as a painless swelling in the posterior portion of the maxilla or mandible. Radiographs show a well-defined radiolucent area containing various amounts of radiopaque material of irregular size and form. This article reports a case of AFO affecting a 14-year-old boy. As a radiographic exam performed five years previously was available, the development of the lesion over this period is described. The lesion was surgically treated.
