The variables observed included weed frequency, weed density, and summed dominance ratio (SDR). The frequency of weeding of cayenne plants, using a randomized completely block design (RCBD) with one treatment factor, namely weeding frequency (without weeding; 1 weeding at 2 weeks after planting (MST); 2 times weeding at 2 MST and 4 MST; 3 times weeding at 2 MST, 4 MST, and 6 MST; 4 times weeding at 2 MST, 4 MST, 6 MST, and 8 MST).
