La función apodótica de la conjunción e en las biblias medievales hispánicas
In the following paper, we study the apodotic function of the conjunction e in the language of medieval translations of the Hebrew Bible. This particle has been recognized as a transliteration or a tracing of the apodotic waw of Hebrew and it acts as a reinforcement in apodosis of some bipolar sentences as the conditional structure. Our aim is to provide objective data with regards to the bibles and discursive contexts most sensitive to the transliteration of this idiomatic rule. In addition, we make contrasts with medieval translations from the Vulgate, and with sixteenth century translations, Biblia del Oso and Biblia de Ferrara. In short, the analysis leads us to clarify the idea that the presence of the conjunction e in conditional apodoses is a mere exercise of idiomatic tracing.
