Packaging Engineering was founded in 1972. It is a scientific and technological journal that is publicly distributed at home and abroad. It is now managed by China North Industries Group Corporation and sponsored by the Southwest Institute of Technology and Engineering of China North Industries Group Corporation. The purpose of the journal is to publish research reviews and research papers in the fields of advanced materials, automation and intelligent technology, detection technology, advanced protection technology, transportation and logistics, packaging design, industrial design, etc. related to the industry, aiming to reflect the scientific and technological innovation achievements in science, technology, engineering and design in the field, and promote the transformation of achievements, engineering application, and design research. Readers include design teachers and students of various universities and colleges engaged in visual communication design and industrial design in domestic and foreign academic circles, as well as design elites in the domestic and foreign industry circles.

《包装工程》（Packaging Engineering）创刊于1972年，原刊名为《防腐消息》，1979年更名为《防腐包装》，由聂荣臻元帅题写刊名，1985年又更名为《防腐与包装》，1988年定名为《包装工程》，成为国内外公开发行科技期刊，现由中国兵器装备集团有限公司主管，中国兵器装备集团西南技术工程研究所主办。期刊的办刊宗旨为：致力于发表行业相关的先进材料、自动化与智能化技术、检测技术；先进防护技术；运输和物流；包装设计；工业设计等领域的研究综述、研究论文，旨在反映领域内科学、技术、工程和设计方面的科技创新成果，促进成果转化、工程应用、设计研究。读者涵盖国内外学术界从事视觉传达设计、工业设计的各高校、大专院校设计类师生，以及国内外行业界的设计精英等。
