Simulation results suggest that this model switches between a perfect channel state and an imperfect channel state dynamically. Abstract

Due to the distance between satellite transponder and ground terminal in the satellite communication system, satellite communication is affected badly by multipath fading and shadowing effect. These factors seriously affect the quality of communication and the system spectrum efficiency. In this paper, we describe the transmission characteristics of satellite communication channel and a simplified fading channel model is analyzed. Besides, several common models are taken into consideration. This model is built on C. Loo model and Corazza model to describe received signals, multipath fading and shadowing effect. Simulation results suggest that this model switches between a perfect channel state and an imperfect channel state dynamically. The research provides an important meaning for the implementation of the actual channel simulation and can be widely used in the study of satellite communication system.
