Abstract

Cloud-based Radio Access Network (C-RAN) could offer the benefit of mitigating inter-cell interference through facilitating cooperation techniques such as coordinated multi-point transmission (CoMP). This paper introduces the C-RAN architecture as well as different CoMP strategies to the multi-cell systems. Green advantages of C-RAN are presented and cooperation details of CoMP are analyzed. Simulations are conducted to compare the mean sum rate and energy efficiency performance of several CoMP strategies in the presence of different configurations of transmission power and fronthaul capacity.
