Abstract

In this work, we plan to present a model of rural electrification by applying solar energy. In this context, and following the success that Morocco has experienced in terms of rural electrification, and its willingness to transfer its expertise in electrification to Africa, a photovoltaic dimensioning of a village called “Boumhaout” located in the south of Morocco, which belongs to a rural and desert area that is similar to rural areas in sub-Saharan Africa, is being carried out in order to make a comparison between grid and solar electrification to show that the exploitation of photovoltaic installations is reliable and cost-effective to cover energy needs for desert areas.
