Poverty Entrepreneurs and Technology

Abstract

Although technology is ubiquitous in developed countries, a stark divide in technology literacy exists for groups with low socio-economic status. That is especially relevant for poverty entrepreneurs, who struggle to integrate technology and therefore limit the survivability and growth of their ventures. However, current research on this issue is still scarce. Therefore, our paper attempts to address this gap by discussing how technology affects poverty entrepreneurs' opportunity horizon and decision-making processes. We are also taking a closer look at technology literacy and the digital divide and what how they affect poverty entrepreneurs' ventures.
