Abstract

The optical constants of indium antimonide at liquid helium temperatures in the spectral region below 40 cm−1 are of particular relevance to the optimal design of detectors for the millimetre and near millimetre wavelength regions. There is, however, little quantitative data of this type in the literature, even though the material has been carefully studied by reflection methods at somewhat shorter wavelengths over its reststrahlen region (1-3). In this work the results of such measurements on InSb by the techniques of Fourier transform spectrometry are presented and discussed.
