Abstract

During the solar magnetic disturbance (SMD) of March 13, 1989, which resulted in large-magnitude geomagnetic induced currents (GIC) in North America, it is believed that two phases of one of the generator step-up transformers at the Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) Salem Generating Station were damaged.
