Abstract
Permanent magnet stepper motors are being applied as digital actuators for long time. This paper presents a simulation and dynamic analysis of a special type of two-phase permanent magnet stepper motor with the asymmetric stator. The measurement on the motor prototype reveals irregular step size for the half-stepping mode. Therefore, the model of the motor was built and several experiments were run to analyze its dynamic behavior. A simulation was used to find appropriate stator dimension arrangement to achieve regular step size. The results of position and torque simulation are presented for original and modified stator dimensions.
