Abstract
The nationwide student physical health level is an important indicator to measure the physical health state of the country students of different ages and the exercise effect. The advent of the new coronavirus epidemic has led to long-term shutdowns around the world. Under the circumstances, it is extremely important and necessary to study the physical health changes of general higher education institutions students before and after the epidemic. In this study, the physical fitness test data before and after the epidemic of all students who entered Guangdong University of Foreign Studies during the three-year period of 2017-2019 underwent differentiation analysis where students were divided into three groups: all students, male students and female students. The test found that the overall physical health level of all general higher education institutions senior students as well as male and female students separately has been declining; the physical health of all lower grade students has slight increase, but only the lower grade female students physical health has significant improvement; the height, weight, BMI score, vital capacity, standing long jump, seated forward bend original level of all students as well as male and female students separately during the epidemic period has been maintained or increased; the 50-meter run, pull-ups, sit-ups, 1,000-meter run and 800-meter run level of all students as well as male and female students separately has shown a downward trend, in which the decline rate of senior students is higher than that of lower grade students.
