Abstract

This paper describes a preliminary study of microwave photonic (MWP) filtering approaches for use in optoelectronic oscillators to further improve the critical parameters. MWP filters with a finite impulse response (FIR) can be realized in the optical domain by establishing a multi-path system. This can be achieved in several different ways, of which two are examined in this paper, i.e. the multi-path and multi-source approaches.
