Abstract

In this paper we evaluate the correlation of sudden storm commencement (SSC) measurements due to solar activity. These measured waveforms usually indicate the arrival of a geomagnetic storm at the Earth. This paper presents evidence of the correlation of the arrival of the magnetic fields at many diverse locations on the Earth and also shows a correlation with the particle momentum flux measured in space that compresses the Earth's magnetic field on the Sun-facing side, and creates the SSC magnetic field that is observed on the Earth's surface.
