An Archaeological Reconnaissance in the Horn: The British-Somali Expedition, 1975

Abstract

Summary The article sets out the chief results of the reconnaissance, notably the discovery of three early coastal sites in north-eastern Somalia. Two of these are on the Hafun peninsula, of which one appears to be of Graeco-Roman date and one may possibly be earlier; the third is on the northern coast just west of Cape Guardafui. Some curious drystone monuments in the hinterland are briefly described.
