Abstract
Previous studies analyzed the age-dependence of cardiovascular parameters in females and males. Their obtained results agree that the complexity of the studied signals as well as the differences between females and males decrease with increasing age. According to this study, we can confirm these findings. Additionally, by using nonlinear methods from the field of symbolic dynamics, we were able to detect significant differences between the female and male subjects of older age on the basis of the heart rate variability.
