Abstract

In this paper a novel multi-purpose converter for electric vehicles (EVs) is proposed. This topology, optimized for a full electric drive, satisfies propulsion requirements and allows single phase as well as three-phase AC charging. As compared with the onboard integrated chargers on the market today, this topology enables significant cost, weight and volume reductions. The proposed topology is theoretically analyzed and its validity is verified by simulation.
