Abstract

There is an exponential growth of solar photovoltaic technology for energy generation in comparison with the conventional and other renewable energy sources. Sun energy is the best option for power generation as it is available everywhere and is free to operate. Shading is one of the most important aspects that affect performances of PV systems. The first purpose of this paper is modeling and simulation of a five parameters photovoltaic cell and illustration of its electrical characteristics under standard test conditions (STC) and under environment condition variation using Matlab/Simulink software. The second purpose is to study influence of partial shading on the current-voltage characteristics and on output power of the PV system with and without bypass diode.
