Jacek Idzi Przybylski jako edytor

Abstract

The article presents Jacek Idzi Przybylski as an editor. This concept covers a very wide range of competences that Przybylski undoubtedly had, as well as a large number of duties which he met with great commitment and attention to detail. He was a fund-provider, he often attempted to get funds to print interesting materials, he also organized subscrip ­ tions, which allowed him to publish valuable items, and even published a popular science magazine for wide audience. He was also a translator concerned about presenting the spirit of the period in the most faithful way possible and a scientific editor providing the reader with a comprehensive, carefully compiled commentary. He also probably had an influence on the typographic shape of the publications he was preparing. He helped in the selection of appropriate illustrations and the coherent visual aspect of the entire publication. Look ­ ing at Przybylski from this perspective allows us to evaluate his scientific and translation work differently and to see a man who subordinated his entire work to books.
