Abstract
Tiebout's model operationalizes assumptions about decentralized behavior of a population of autonomous individuals who seek greater utility through choices between jurisdictions with different political institutions designed to aggregate preferences. Based on an agent-based model inspired by Tiebout's model, we discuss the validity of these assumptions for the case of empirical situations present in capitalist societies.
