The purpose of this article is to explore the existing working conditions and rights of women domestic workers in Bangladesh and elucidate the Islamic guidelines in this context. It examines the issue using content analysis following the descriptive-analytical method. This research has revealed that women domestic workers are not receiving their due status as workers in Bangladesh. Abstract

A significant part of the working class is women domestic workers, who work tirelessly to perform household tasks for their employers for low wages. In Bangladesh, women domestic workers are not getting the status and rights they deserve, there are regular reports of abuse of domestic workers. Though this group of workers engaged in the informal sector occupies a significant place in the labour market of Bangladesh they are not recognized. Since Bangladesh is a Muslim majority country, it is possible to establish the rights of domestic workers if people can be encouraged by promoting Islamic guidelines.
