Abstract

The poor performance of scheduled tribes in modern education can be mainly attributed to systemic discrimination embedded in the pedagogical practices and curriculums. This is visible in the lack of quality education, a shortage and irregular presence of teachers, the absence of proper teaching aids and other infrastructure facilities in schools and colleges. The situation can be explained as a deliberate denial of quality education to STs. This discrimination is invisible, as it is rooted in our very social and political system.
