Abstract

For the ion temperature measurement of Tokamak plasmas by a collective thermal scattering, injection-locked tunable single-mode TEA CO2 laser is being developed as a pumping source for a single-mode submillimeter (SMM) laser. Numerical calculations show that the CO2 laser is tunable over 1 GHz and that a pulse shaping is possible. Preliminary experimental tests indicate the feasibility of the scheme.
