The principles of selection of language material, adopted in domestic and foreign practice, are analyzed. An attempt to select lexical units on the basis of foreign experience of learning English is made. Within the framework of the integration approach to mastering a foreign language for professional purposes, there are four main categories of lexical units: Content Obligatory Vocabulary, Content Compatible Vocabulary, phrases Collocation, High Frequency Words. Abstract

The article characterizes the concept of professional-terminological competence of future veterinarians and outlines the semantic aspect of its formation by means of English for professional purposes.
