So it is important to understand the activity of the heart. ECG is a waveform which measures the heart activity. Any ECG signal is corrupted by noise hence it is important to remove the noise along with the baseline wander to get a proper signal for further processing. It is essential to detect the heart rate in order to understand the behavior of Heart. QRS complex is an important feature of an ECG signal which is used to determine the heartbeat. This paper discusses various methods through which the baseline wander can be removed and heart rate can be detected. The proposed method uses time frequency analysis and determines the heart rate with an accuracy of 97.54 per cent. Different types of arrhythmia can be identified with the knowledge of heart rate.
