Abstract

The synchronous condenser (SC) was tested in this study to improve performance of the power transmission in the South Sulawesi Electric Power System model, in Indonesia, a multi-engine power system, using a hybrid of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and pattern search (PS) algorithms. This method employs MATLAB and DigSILENT, which is linked by an automated data exchange protocol. Power flow calculations are performed using DigSILENT, and the particle swarm pattern search optimization (PSPSO) algorithm is implemented using MATLAB.
