Abstract

The objective of this paper is to propose a new method to enhance process monitoring in Structural Health Monitoring. This method consists of a particle filter-based Optimized Max Double Shewhart (OM-DShewhart). This method combines the advantages of the Particle Filter (PF) and the advantages of the proposed control chart optimized Max Double Shewhart (OM-DShewhart) which consists of an extended version of the conventional Shewhart. The advantages of the proposed method are twofold: (i) The PF is proposed to estimate the states of a structural Health Monitoring system; (ii) the Optimized Max-DShewhart chart is proposed to detect damages shifts in the mean and in the variance in order to improve the monitoring of civil processes. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated using the complex 3 DOF spring-mass-dashpot system.
