Abstract
The author identifies composite materials of a carved limestone sculpture and the nature of it’s decay due to atmospheric pollution and surface contaminants. The sculpture was transported, for cleaning to AMDEL Laboritories. These procedures successfully removed salts and living micro-organisms. Subsequent preservation measures including a maintenance programme are discussed.
