Abstract
This approach intends to highlight both the dichotomy and the syncretism between two fundamental concepts in electrical systems, namely power quality, and electromagnetic compatibility. The author presents a new sort of syncretism, that is uniting parts of the two concepts in a new manner, supported by experiments. That is why the syncretism the author is seeking for does not mean mainly the unity in terms used in different standards which is clearly a shallow one, but in the physical phenomena involved and in the strong interconnection linking the two concepts. The terminology used in the paper is that of the standard IEC 60050-161 International Electrotechnical Vocabulary and of the IEEE Std 1100 ™ - 2005, IEEE Recommended Practice for Powering and Grounding Electronic Equipment.
