Abstract

Recent developments in surgical techniques have led to new methods to treat ankle arthritis and perhaps produce a better effect on joint function and gait improvement. The indications for total ankle replacement, ankle fusion, or distraction arthroplasty in the management of ankle arthritis are controversial.
