Abstract
Emergency settings are actually being strengthened by using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for the dynamic deployment of a Public Safety Network (PSN). A PSN is built on top of existing public service networks to help first responder teams in performing critical tasks. However, current solutions expose limitations when starting-up a PSN such as provisioning effective communication links for first responders, as key point to successful emergency management, as well as incorporating autonomous self-management capabilities to decide when, where, and how to deploy emergency services dynamically. In this context, this paper reviews the current state of the art and showcases the main challenges for PSN provision, taking into account new 5G mobile networks to deploy virtualized emergency services in future mobile communications dynamically.
