Abstract

The magnetic state in the Permanent Magnet Fault Current Limiter (PMFCL) changes from saturation to unsaturation when fault occurs in the system. Due to this nonlinear characteristic undesirable harmonics are generated in the system. This paper represents the effects of shorting ring associated with the Permanent Magnetic Fault Current Limiter for diminishing the harmonics generated in the circuit. The simulations are done using Finite Element Method (FEM) considering the hysteresis loop of the core.
