Abstract

This paper presents the design and realization of a low insertion loss and high isolation Ka-band single-pole single-throw switch (SPST). This kind of switch is based on unilateral fin-line using four beam lead PIN diodes in parallel. The 3D EM simulation results demonstrated that, from 33 GHz to 37 GHz, the insertion loss of the switch is less than 0.5 dB while the isolation is greater than 32 dB. The measured value of the insertion loss is found to be less than 1.5 dB while the isolation is greater than 26 dB, which are in good agreement with the simulated results.
