On the other hand, the relation between the state and the cinema continues in the subjects of regulation and support. Therefore, relations with the state play a fundamental role for the development processes of national cinemas. This article’s aim is to analyze the relation of Turkish cinema with the state in the context of cinema policies based on some official documents, from the Republican period to the present day. In this study, five-year development plans, government programs, party programs and executive plans were used and literature review was made. As a result of the research based on official documents, reports and political texts, it has been observed that there is a criticism which Turkish cinema, especially in the period of 1950-80 Yeşilçam period, consist of the productions of low artistic and cultural characteristics. It is determined that the substructure and legislative arrangements are necessary for the emergence of the productions. These productions which exhibit the national culture and have artistic value are presented as a vision in political texts. After 1980, by taking well-developed cinema industries of the world as a model, it was determined that the relation between state and cinema turned in favour of Turkish cinema and the view of politics favoured the creation of a strong Turkish cinema industry.
