PBSHM considers grouping similar structures together to gain additional insights from the group, compared to a single entity. Part of the PBSHM process is being able to identify which structures, or substructures, are similar. To enable this a standardised method of representing each structure must be used; here, an Irreducible Element (IE) model is employed. This paper builds on the groundwork that has been laid in the creation of IE models and defines a standardised format and properties for an IE modal to enable graph matching algorithms to find similar structures.
