Abstract

The design, development and pilot evaluation of an assistive device for occupational therapy for learning to dress for children with cognitive disabilities is presented. The proposed device includes design recommendations from 36 specialists from different institutions that care for children with cognitive disabilities. In the participatory design of the device, evidence of a positive perception is provided regarding the aspects of safety, stimulation, ease of use, motivation, creativity and functions that can strengthen children development. In addition, a pilot evaluation with a healthy 3-year-3-month-old girl suggests that the device is easy to use and easy to learn.
