Abstract
This study was undertaken to compare the relative merits of proprietary silver polishes. Attempts were made to devise accelerated laboratory tests which would duplicate normal household use. The properties of interest were ability to clean, amount of silver removal during cleaning and degree of tarnish protection conferred. Whilst these test were not entirely successful, they did reveal some interesting features and are useful in illustrating the problems of devising reliable product comparison tests.
