Abstract
This paper applies the Genetic Algorithm as an optimization technique to find the optimal parameters of classical and fractional order controllers for the Hydraulic Servo System (HSS). It also presents the implementation of a non-linear mathematical model of Hydraulic Servo System based on the physical laws which govern that system. It is known that, the Hydraulic Servo System plays an elegant role in industrial applications in different fields. Furthermore, the studied hydraulic system has a nonlinear effect due to the friction between cylinders and pistons, fluid compressibility and valve dynamics. Due to these effects, the simulation results show that when using fractional order controllers, it gives better response, better performance indices, improved disturbance rejection behaviour, and distinguished sinusoidal trajectory than the conventional Proportional-Integral-Derivative PID)/Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers.
