We build mathematical model which shows the comparative study of network coding technique in data gathering by using Markov chain approach. Abstract

Smart Grid Neighborhood Area Network (SG NAN) is the most important part of Smart Grid, the next electric network modernization. It enables the two way communication between meters and utilities to enable new intelligent applications. However, many SG NAN applications such as Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) or Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) have strictly requirement in both latency and reliability in order to fulfill the current and upcoming applications.
