Abstract

The paper proposes a method of active control of surface roughness using a research stand to study the processes occurring in the cutting zone during turning. The parameters of the cutting process affecting the roughness of the resulting surface, as well as the physical and mechanical properties of the material, such as surface hardness, are considered. The article also discusses the usefulness of active control for single and small-scale production. In addition, such a control method can also be useful when processing parts whose functional surfaces need a little hardening or softening.
