Abstract
A test for resistance to gas-abrasive wear of several variants of multilayer vacuum-plasma coatings based on titanium and vanadium nitrides of various thicknesses and number of layers was carried out. Erosion curves are given, areas of accelerated wear are determined, and comparative values of wear resistance are calculated. Based on the conducted microscopic studies, a mechanism of layer-by-layer wear of the studied multilayer coatings is proposed. It is shown that due to the creation of a special layered coating structure, including the alternation of highly hard nitride and relatively softer Ti and V layers, the resistance to gas-abrasive wear of parts of gas turbine engines made of titanium alloys is greatly increased.
