Abstract
A multifunction broad-beam antenna is presented for dual bands and dual circular-polarizations applications. The proposed antenna consists of a crossed dipole antenna (CDA) and four inclined monopole antennas (IMAs). The CDA is connected to a slotted coaxial Balun and fed via an impedance transformer. The IMAs are fed via a 90° hybrid network with input phases of 0°, 90°, 180° and 270°, which locates at the bottom of the CDA. The proposed antenna combines the properties of CDA and IMAs in a shared aperture. The structure can be operated as a dual circularly polarized (CP) antenna covering dual bands with broad-beam. Experimental results show that the presented antenna performs left-handed CP (LHCP) radiation at 1.552-1.685 GHz with axial ratio (AR) <; 3 dB and VSWR <; 2 by CDA and right-hand CP (RHCp) radiation at 2.15-2.62 GHz & 2.84-3.32 GHz by IMAs (AR <; 3 dB, VSWR <; 2).
