Abstract

We review all-optical modulation format conversion schemes from non-return-to zero on-off-keying (NRZ-OOK) signals to return-to-zero (RZ) M-ary phase-shift-keying (PSK) or multilevel amplitude-phase-shift-keying (APSK) signal based on parametric amplification and/or cross-phase modulation in optical fibers.
